The Last Sunday of May
Commemorative Day of Hungarian Heroes

“Heroes do not die – they simply rest in the memory of the nation.”

Today, on the Day of Hungarian Heroes, we bow our heads in tribute to all those who gave their lives for their homeland. We honour those who, whether known or unknown, took part in wars, battles, or stood firm in times of great trial – for the freedom, security, and future of the nation.

On this day, we remember not only soldiers, but every Hungarian who, through their courage, sacrifice, and dedication, contributed to the freedom we enjoy today. Be they soldiers on the front lines, victims of bombings, civilian heroes, or those who gave up their own dreams, liberty – even their lives – for the sake of the homeland.

To remember is not only our duty, but our responsibility. The sacrifice of past heroes obliges us to serve peace, national unity, and human dignity through our everyday actions.

May their memory be blessed, and their lives eternal examples to us all.
Let us remember them with dignity, respect, and heartfelt gratitude.
