1956 Commemoration - Barnsley

TWO MEN OF ’56 – A MEETING THAT WAS MORE THAN A HANDSHAKE

Two men, two journeys through life, but one shared memory: 1956.

A deeply moving moment in Barnsley at the unveiling of a Blue Plaque commemorating the Hungarian refugees of 1956, as two men who lived through those historic events met.

Within a single handshake lies the story of an entire generation: loss, hope, a new beginning, and a homeland never forgotten.

Honour to the heroes of 1956 and to all those who carried Hungary with them in their hearts.
