Structure of the Organisation

Honorable Ladies and Gentlemen, As you may have already learned from the press or the link below, on July 29, 2011, we were finally able to show the world that the Order of Vitéz is united! Unfortunately, there are still some Vitézi organizations that have not returned, although the door remains open. With great joy and respect, we invite our knights from other Vitézi groups to rejoin the unified Order, where, upon returning, no one will face any retribution. In fact, everyone will be able to retain their knightly rank and position! Honorable Ladies and Gentlemen, For long centuries, we suffered under the oppression of foreign powers. Let’s be honest about this. They were able to do this to us, the Hungarians, because our divisions served the interests of foreign, anti-Hungarian powers. Our nation’s division still persists today. Hungary is going through extremely difficult times. We, who think in terms of nationhood, must lead by example and work to build unity. I do not believe in the "curse of Turan," but I do believe in the resurrection of Hungary. In this nation-building work, the Order of Vitéz has an important role to play. The situation of the Order of Vitéz in Hungary today is undignified, and not in line with the last will of our founder, Vitéz Miklós Horthy, the Governor of Hungary. The Governor founded the Order of Vitéz with the intention that the Order would represent a Christian, national force that would serve the interests of the Hungarian nation. The same divisiveness that characterizes our country also affected the Order of Vitéz. This unfortunate division is regretted by every knight, and I believe it is the desire of every knight to put an end to it. I believe that a united Order of Vitéz will benefit the nation. Therefore, the leaders of the branches of the Order of Vitéz bear a great responsibility. To restore and coordinate the unity of the Order, the Ministry of Defence has offered assistance. On April 19, 2011, the Ministry of Defence convened a chivalric meeting with the leaders of various groups. At this meeting, the Ministry expressed its regret over the division within the Order and offered their support to restore unity. The groups represented at the conference were: The Vitézi Rend (which operates legally in Hungary, led by Vitéz Molnár-Gazsó János) The Historical Vitézi Rend Association (led by Vitéz Hunyadi László) The Vitézi Rend Carpathian Basin Governorship (led by Vitéz Vad László) The Vitézi Rend I.C. O.C. (Knighthood) in Sweden (a group registered by a private individual) During the official statement, it was expressed that the unity of the Order should be restored within six months, in order to serve the interests of the Hungarian nation. In the second part of the meeting, the leaders of each group were allowed to present their proposals for restoring unity. Representatives from the Ministry of Defence and the leaders of the branches of the Vitézi Rend made statements indicating that discussions would continue. A few days after the meeting, I was contacted by Vitéz Vad László, the leader of the Vitézi Rend Carpathian Basin Governorship. Following negotiations with Vitéz Vad László, the Vitézi Rend and the Carpathian Basin Province of the Vitézi Rend agreed to unite. The signing of the document confirming this unity will take place in July 2011. In recent discussions, it has been agreed that the Horthy Miklós Vitézi Rend Foundation, led by Vitéz Ajtós József László, Vitéz Sándor Ervin, and Dr. Vitéz Erdős Tamás, will join the Vitézi Rend. I warmly welcome all the knights who have recognised that the division of the Vitézi Rend serves foreign interests, and, having realised this, are now working for the unity of the Order and continuing their chivalric duties as members of the Vitézi Rend. The Vitézi Rend welcomes every knight into its ranks with sincere Hungarian friendship. In order to achieve unity, I participated in discussions with Vitéz Habsburg József Árpád. Unfortunately, their position remained rigid, maintaining that only those knights who were knighted by themselves or their predecessors could be recognised as knights. They do not acknowledge other branches of the Order and believe that other groups should have the opportunity to return to them. Honoured knights! In accordance with the final will of our founder, I have rejected their proposal. The Vitézi Rend is a military order operating in Hungary. In line with the will of our founder, Vitéz Miklós Horthy, we operate and serve our homeland here, defending Hungarian interests. We continue to stand by the proposal we made in our meeting, and we hope that, in the interests of unity, we can unite as one. I have also participated in several discussions with the leader of the Historical Vitézi Rend Association, Vitéz Hunyadi László. We have concluded that the division of the Order does not serve the interests of the Order or of our nation. I believe that we must continue the negotiations in the hope of unification. We have agreed that the Vitézi Rend and the Historical Vitézi Rend Association will work together on a common admission policy. Whenever the circumstances allow, we will appear together at commemorations. In the coming times, we will encourage our members to participate in joint events. I believe that within every Vitézi group, regardless of who knighted them, there are noble Hungarian people. I hope that the petty squabbles unworthy of knights will come to an end! I ask every knight, whether in Hungary or abroad, to focus on the destiny of their homeland and strive for the unity of the Vitézi Rend. Let us put aside real or perceived grievances. The very existence of our nation and beloved Order is at stake. Let us learn from the mistakes of the past! I believe it is not by the whim of history that Hungarians, including knights, still live today. God has a plan for the Hungarian people and for us knights! God bless Hungary and the Vitézi Rend! Vitéz Molnár-Gazsó János, Grand Captain, s.k.
